Job Description
Reporting to the Dean, collaborate with the administrative team of SASS to support a range of academic policies, procedures, services, and events. The administrative team of SASS includes department chairs, associate dean, executive assistant to the dean, and dean.


  • Assist the department chairs in completing a variety of administrative responsibilities, such as:
    •  composing the draft academic timetable;
    •  responding to inquiries about enrollment, course sections, waitlists, and field placements;
    •  co-ordinating faculty advising schedules; and
    •  participating in school-based working groups;

  • Provide dedicated administrative support to the Bachelor of Social Work Program, including, but not limited to assisting with admission administration and practicum support
  • Utilize the university’s ERP system (Colleague, Advise, Recruit) to produce high-quality, analytical reports to support the operation of the school, department, and program-related initiatives;
  • Provide administrative support for Quality Assurance initiatives that may require research, report writing, auditing, or other methods of review, as assigned
  • Deliver professional, proactive, and exceptional front-line services and supportive programming to a diverse student population;
  • Serve as a resource to faculty and staff regarding university policies, procedures, and regulations and address a wide variety of inquiries from staff, faculty, and students;
  • Liaise on a consistent basis with other academic schools, Registrar’s Office, Student Affairs, and IT department to maintain communication links and apply policies and procedures that cross administrative units;
  • Participate in university events (e.g. strategic planning sessions or orientation) and attend professional development seminars, workshops, and conferences, as appropriate;
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • A diploma or degree in a relevant area of study or practice;
  • Minimum of demonstrated three years of recent related experience (education/academic environment preferred);
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, office environment with complex changing priorities on a day-to day basis
  • Ability to work independently, conduct original research, and recommend innovative solutions to complex problems;
  • Demonstrated general interest in students and in meeting their academic needs;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to work with a wide range of clients with diverse needs and backgrounds;
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and maintain good working relationships with other university employees;
  • Good organizational skills, personal judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to learn updated and/or new software, applications, and digital tools/systems quickly, including the CBU student information system.
