Job Description
The Department of Education in the School of Education and Health at CBU invites applications for a tenure-track position in (Subject to Budget Approval)Curriculum Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will commence January 1, 2024 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge of recent and historical debates in curriculum and is able to interpret these critically. Candidates with an established (or developing) program of research in critical curriculum studies, employing the lenses of critical consciousness; decolonisation; social conscience; living curriculum; re/humanization; sustainability; and creativity are especially encouraged to apply. Ideally these same values will also infuse the candidate’s teaching. The successful candidate will teach and supervise graduate students in critical curriculum studies and may be required also to work with pre-service teachers.

As the department is expanding its program offerings, opportunities exist to contribute to course development on the BEd and master’s programs. Prior experience in course design is an asset.

The union affiliation of this position is with the Cape Breton University Faculty Association.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a relevant terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.). Candidates who are in the later stages of their doctorate may be considered with the successful completion of the doctorate being a condition of employment.
